Notes for LOVEAT GAUSE EVANS: Lee Barton Gause Evans was a baritone singer in the 30's + 40's. His list of accomplishments are : American Baritone"Song Impressions". He was widely known in musical circles, has appeared in grand and light opera, musical comedy and concert work in every major city of the Untied States and Canada. He was leading man for Peggy Hopkins Joyce for a year , appeared in George White's "Scandals" and portrayed Joe in Ziegfield's "Show Boat". He was the first singer to present "Chloe" three months before the song was published and made a short of it for Warner Brothers. He presented all of his songs in character. According to William Byron of the Erie Dispatch, Aug. 5th, 1951, Lee Barton Evans was a nephew of the late Chief Justice Charles Evans Hughes. He went from musical comedy into opera, singing for almost a decade as lead baritone of the Chicago Civic Opera Company. After many years on the concert circuit, Lee joined the Hamid-Morton Circus as public relations man. He did it to eat, he says. He stayed for eats and love... He also did a great amount of work for the Shriner's Circus. He is buried on Long Island, N.Y.
