Mabel Eunice Hyatt was born on Weston Mt. Sept. 16, 1892, where she lived and got most of her schooling. In July 1912 she and a Mrs. Jones went down the the Hodgson farm to cook in the cookhouse for the harvest hands through harvest. There she met Jim Hodgson, in her own words "how well I remember, we got to the farm about noon, the men were all sitting in the shade waiting for dinner. I said to Mrs. Jones "Who is that young man with the pretty brown eyes?" She told me that is Mrs. Hodgson's son Jim, and I think it was LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT. 1912 was a wet harvest and the cook house leaked, making everything miserable. I married Jim Feb. 2, 1913. I went to Corvallis in the fall and Jim came to Weston. He worked for Mr. Hodgson that summer and in the fall of 1913 we leased the Tom Kirk farm at Athena, OR. Jan 12, 1914 our first daughter was born, Sept 26, 1915 one son was born and in the fall of 1916 we sold out and moved to LaCrosse, WA. We rented a farm there and Jan 13 a daughter was born. She died Mar 24, 1918. We farmed at LaCrosse 3 yrs. We sold out there and spent the winter in Weston. That summer, 1919, we moved to Idaho. That spring Jim had pneumonia, heart trouble and rhumatism, he was in bed 3 weeks at LaCrosse. We went to the Hot Springs Hot Lake Hospital, we were there about 3 weeks. That summer we leased 850 Acres of farm of wheat from the Indians. Wheat went down that fall, and lost everything. We came back to Weston for the winter. In the spring we moved to on the Mountain with the Hyatts.(Mabels Folks) We worked in harvest in the summer, the next spring Jim rented 20 acres from Joe and we rented the Perric house. That fall we rented the Bryson house. We lived there 3 years, then Jim leased the Cannon place. We lived there until the fall of 1927. We bought a place on Pea Ridge, we were there 2 yrs. We moved to Kennewick, we were there 3 yrs and we lost everything. We went to work on a farm near Eurika and worked there two or three years. Then we came to Weston, I worked at Lew's then we leased the Wren place for 5 years, and in the fall of 1936 we moved down here on the old home place. We bought the old home place in 1937. In the summer Aug 1, 1946 we started on our vacation trip to the Yellowstone National Park. The first night we stayed in Boise. Jim had a heart attack about 4 in the afternoon. We worked with him till the Dr. Jenmeson in Twin Falls got there. He died about 8:30 or 8:45 Aug 2, 1946 Twin Falls Hospital. We brought him back to Weston for Buriel Aug 6, 1946.
