Notes for JOHN MIDDLEBROOK: This obituary was written about Johns' mother.spouse: >Hiatt, Pauline (1896 - 1987)Tarrytown, NY. Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Bradley Middlebrook 99 year old mother of John Middlebrook of Kerrville, were held there recently. Burial was in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. Mrs. Middlebrook died in Briarcliff Nursing Home in Tarrytown. She was the daughter of David Ogden Bradley who with Cyrus Field (the man who laid the first trans-Atlantic cable) operated the first bank in Tarrytown. Bradley also was the attorney for Leonard Jerome, grandfather of Winston Churchill. Mrs. Middlebrook's grandfather was Eliza Fitch who toured the world with William Seward who was cited for his policy wh8ch eventually was instrumental in the Purchase of Alaska by the United States. Other survivors in addition to her Kerrville son are Joseph Middlebrook Jr. of Delroy Beach. Fla. a daughter Mrs Cornelia Bakeland Holowell of NYC. four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one gggrandchild.

Elva lived her life independently up until the very end. She had her own apartment in Centerville, IA. She said that she would live to be 95 at least, but I guess God had other plans because cancer took over her body and within a couple of weeks after it was diagnosed she passed on to her heavenly home.
